Haverford College has been invited to send up to four students as delegates to the 13th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, to be held in Warsaw, Poland, on October 20-23, 2013. This opportunity will provide attendees the chance to network with other college students interested in world peace, plus hear such luminaries as Mikhail Gorbachev and Lech Wałęsa.
The World Summit, held for the first time in Eastern Europe, will include a series of moderated discussions, ceremonies and programming sessions joined by Nobel Peace laureates, high-profile leaders and humanitarian organizations from around the world. This year, the theme is “Stand in Solidarity for Peace: Time to Act,” and will focus on human rights, individual activism, and youth involvement.
With a strong focus on youth involvement, students will have the opportunity to ask questions of the Nobel Peace laureates during the scheduled programs and moderated sessions.
